Our client has implemented a number Rational tools that operate across a delivery lifecycle giving potential to drive greater levels of standardisatio, increasing quality and productivity in the delivery of projects. To realise the benefits, they need to move from managing the systems engineering processes in silos to moving to managing tools, methods, standards and consider all change in the context of the impact on the engineering processes. Our client is creating a new team, the Centre of Engineering Excellence, focusing on the Rational Tool Set.

The roles provide leadership within our clients environment for Rational tools (Rational Requirements Composer, Rational Software Architect and Rational Team Concert) as they continue to transform the engineering processes to support cost, pace of change and resiliency programmes. This is a leadership role and while technical capability is a required, the ability to communicate confidently from IT board level to the wider development teams, will be essential.

Key Accountabilities:

Moving the design method from a paper based approach to an industry best practice, model based approach.
Defining, implementing and monitoring the standards necessary to support a model based development for both UML and topology modelling.
Driving communication via paper out of the engineering processes.
Ensuring that the design method is documented and that appropriate training is available.
Creating and maintaining a tools road map, outlining the IBM releases in use and any planned upgrades.
Seeking innovative opportunities for delivering value from the tools.
Creating business cases and plans to support the above.
Agreeing and implementing real measures that demonstrate the value delivered.
Ensuring that each development platform team has a road map for the adoption of Rational tools.
Working with the Quality Assurance teams to provide better integration between the design phases and testing and deploy.
Ensuring that change is understood and agreed by key stakeholders.
Line management responsibilities.

Key Skills:
At least one of: Rational Requirements Composer or Rational Team Concert or Rational Software Architect and UML 2.0, Agile methodology.
