The IT Strategy Manager role will focus on supporting and managing components of the planning, development and delivery of strategic IT change initiatives impacting in the short and long term as well as supporting IT Board members and their leadership teams in a consulting capacity to improve the business of the IT Group.

The Strategy Manager will play a key role within the IT function and will be responsible for:

Understanding the business strategy and shape the 5 year IT strategy to deliver

Managing, developing and driving strategy and transformational projects, and planning and coordinating the delivery, for initiatives that span IT and with significant impacts and dependencies on wider, including :

Operating model and capability transformation (process, tools and governance)


To work with the wider IT Strategy Team to challenge and bring insight in the operational efficiency and effectiveness of IT directorates

Manage and support project teams to deliver strategies, including in a matrix fashion

Maintain knowledge on industry and best practice expertise that will support IT, and to support planning capabilities across the department

To play an active role in the development for the Strategy team, including white-papers, research, training sessions and team building

The role will work within the IT Strategy team and report to a Senior IT Strategy Manager. The candidate will ideally have the following key capabilities:

Significant experience of operating at a senior level, building effective relationships and dealing with executive colleagues, and other internal and external clients

A broad understanding of a business or service environment and awareness of the factors that influence business decisions and strategy

Ability to take a strategic view and see the “big picture” allied to the ability to adopt an analytical approach to complex change programmes with the awareness of operational implications

Demonstrate drive and commitment in delivering to challenging targets and ability to work within a team environment

Display high level of analytical problem solving skills and the ability to assimilate complex information, to facilitate escalation and resolution of issues

Strong financial, accounting and modelling skills to support development of robust strategies, including business cases

Strong written and oral presentation skills

Outstanding inter-personal skills and confidence. Capable negotiator and communicator at all levels.

Ability to manage conflicting demands of a variety of stakeholders

Experience in developing IT business and technology strategies at major institutions (preferably in financial services) for senior stakeholders, preferably with leading IT strategy consultancies
