To provide an Information strategy and architecture for the domain which meets business and enterprise needs, and to deliver design blueprints/artefacts which enable that architecture to be built and operated, as well as appropriately validate roadmaps.
Understand the needs of the domain and lead thinking in the way that those needs should be satisfied by IT for the Bank.
Be the principal advisor for the domain information technology architecture and strategy.
Define and communicate an IT architecture which balances the needs of the business and the domain and which is in line with the architecture and standards of the group.
Own and develop a fit for purpose IT vision and roadmap for the aligned domain.
Guide investment in the domain so that it follows the strategy and delivers the target architecture, reflecting the demands of that investment in the IT pipeline.
Document domain blueprints and gain approval for their inclusion in the reference architecture.
Deliver domain blueprints to support solution designs, which in turn can be successfully built and operated by Service Delivery.
Leverage the capabilities of technology vendors and sourcing suppliers to define architecture and deliver blueprints.
Promote the value of IT architecture governance and design deliverables across the organisation.
Present design artefacts to the relevant architectural governance committees, to obtain timely approval avoiding delay or project risk.
Participate in managing and maintaining vendor relationships, evaluating usefulness and cost of products and making appropriate recommendations.
Maintain an awareness of external trends for the domain.
Support the Head to build, lead, develop, appraise and motivate a team of architects that it is capable of satisfying the accountabilities described above.
Key Experience / Knowledge:
Ability to maintain a sufficiently deep knowledge of business areas and technology to provide information architectural leadership and direction for the domain.
Ability to win the trust, confidence and commitment of senior business and IT stakeholders and to lead their thinking.
Ability to communicate resource demand to meet the delivery commitments of the domain.
Ability to pragmatically balance the demands of delivery projects with the need to maintain the integrity of the target architecture.
Ability to use considered judgement to make clear decisions in complex situations.
Ability to delegate key architectural decisions and delivery responsibilities while retaining oversight and accountability.
Ability to effectively balance strategy and vision activity with the operational and service demand.
Expected to carry out core accountabilities with minimal level of supervision for complex tasks and no supervision for more routine matters
Deep understanding of the principles and practice of Information Architecture.
Deep understanding of the domain and relevant technology and standards.
Good understanding of the range of disciplines within the Banks IT, including project management, application development and project delivery.
Competitor awareness and innovative capability to drive business improvement based on an understanding of market trends
Ability to develop business cases.
